Offaly County Council provides a wide range of local authority services including Housing, Planning, Development, Environmental, Roads and Transport,  Emergency and Leisure and Community services. The mission of Offaly County Council is to make Offaly the best possible place to live, work, visit or invest. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Finance will lead and manage the finance function within the Authority. As a member of the senior management team, the Head of Finance may also have other responsibilities in the overall  management of the Authority. As a key member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will be required to make a valuable contribution to the strategic management of the finance function as well as provide a high level of independence and objectivity. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to fully utilise  heir professional, technical and management skills in an environment that promotes a high performance culture. As well as leading the finance function, additional responsibilities involving other function areas of the Local Authority may be assigned from time to time. The successful candidate will have: • A professional accountancy qualification and be a member of a recognised body of accountants; • Satisfactory experience of accountancy work including management and financial accounting; • Relevant management experience at an appropriate level.
