On behalf of our client, a global healthcare company, we have an exciting vacancy available for a Senior R&D Applications Engineer. The successful candidate will drive and contribute to company Packaging programs and may include duties such as applications development, materials enhancement, process improvement and/or cost-out initiatives. This is a customer-facing role. You will need to be able to carry out a full range of responsibilities across assigned areas and provide technical/product support across multiple products and/or processes for customers with regards to packaging. Responsibilities may include… Leverage understanding of multiple customer needs and in-house capabilities to rapidly design, develop and implement products and/or processes. Lead technical process developments and improvements in order to generate new technology and value to the organisation. Control the transfer of new products and materials to production. Assist with the qualification and validation of new products, materials, equipment or methods according to internal and international quality standards and requirements. Plan, execute and analyze production trials with Design of Experiment, Lean, and statistical analysis methodology. Generate new, workable ideas to contribute to filling the pipeline. Leverage and share foundational understandings of material / polymer properties and equipment capability in order to meet customer needs. Collaborate with areas such as Engineering, Operations and Quality to resolve technical challenges, supporting sustained solutions. This may include inputs on machine installations or upgrades and participating on new capital project teams. Participate in in-house programs – Lean Manufacturing, cost saving etc. Represent the company’s technical voice by leading technical discussions with customers on new developments. Desired Skills & Experience: A primary degree in Polymer science and/or a degree in Engineering would be an advantage. At least 6- 8 years relevant experience in industry in an R&D, Engineer or Technical Sales position in the healthcare industry. Strong knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to comprehend other software programs outside of Microsoft. Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to information. Ability to lead cross functional teams. Positive mental attitude and ability to perform a multitude of tasks simultaneously with a helpful, friendly attitude. Proven analytical thinking, results orientation and problem solving skills.
