Senior Facilities Engineer - County Offaly. Role summary: The role of this key team member within the Engineering Department will include overall responsibility for a number of key areas within the engineering department. This will include: maintenance and calibration system, Environmental systems and policies, health and safety, validation, capital projects, and management of contractors. It includes managing the day to day operation of the utilities and systems to support manufacturing and ensuring systems are available as required. This will include HVAC, Purified water, Water for injection, Clean steam, CDA, Autoclaves and process gases. Ongoing validation of process equipment and utilities and supporting the introduction of new equipment and utilities on site will also be part of the responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Overall Management of the PEMAC maintenance and calibration system to ensure all manufacturing equipment, utilities and lab systems are fully maintained and calibrated to a very high standard. Ensure the master instrument list is updated as required and accurate at all times. Management of the online PEMAC helpdesk and management of spares on site. This will be done with the support of the site Facilities Technician. Support for Facilities Technician for day to day operation and maintenance of all utilities and systems necessary to support manufacturing. Provide support for the technician to resolve engineering issues as quickly as possible. Management of temperature mapping and validation of various plant items including fridges, incubators, cold rooms and autoclaves. Ensure all necessary protocols are in place and completed in a timely fashion and to a high standard. Review completed protocols with quality to approve and sign off. Work with Production, QA and outside vendors to assist with the validation of process equipment and utilities as required. This will include existing and new equipment being installed at the site. Adhere to safe working practices as set out in the safety statement and other safety instructions. Assist in providing a safe place of work for employees and visitors. This will include provision of induction to all staff and contractors as required. Management of contractors on site to carry out work and control of permit to work system. Ensure risk assessments and method statements are in place where necessary when work is being completed and all contractors are approved to work on site. Ensure safe systems of work are implemented through the management of risk assessments for the site using the PEMAC system. This will include management of risk assessments for chemicals in co-operation with the site chemical Safety Officer. Management of environmental systems on site. Ensure all environmental requirements are met through the implementation of suitable SOP's and policies for the site. Ensure all environmental tasks are carried out on time and to a high standard. Identify and follow up on environmental projects for energy saving and reducing costs. Act as the site SME with EPA inspectors during site visits and provide any feedback required. Management of capital projects and ensuring compliance with all procedures for purchasing of capital equipment. Assist in the preparation of engineering budgets. Participation in the call-out system to cover out of hours alarms. Operation and upkeep of the onsite plant monitoring system SCADA. Participate in Quality and Safety regulatory audits as required. General maintenance duties as arising on site. Participate in Engineering Department or cross –functional projects. Qualification and Experience requirements: Degree/Diploma or Apprenticeship in relevant Engineering discipline. Minimum 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare industry. Knowledge and experience with HVAC, Purified water, Water for injection, Clean steam, CDA, Autoclaves, SCADA and process gases. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and experience in calibration and validation of utilities and process equipment including Bioreactors, fridges, freezers, incubators and autoclaves. Experience working with and managing external contractors. Ability to prioritise, plan and manage tasks to meet agreed deadlines. Excellent project management capability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain very clear records of work completed. Ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team across all departments.
